Per agreement within the UNC-Coastal Library Consortium (UNC-CLC) Advisory Committee and in preparation for the split of the UNC-CLC, faculty, staff and students at the three consortium libraries can no longer place Hold Requests for materials owned by the patron’s non-home libraries. The consortium included libraries from Fayetteville State, University of North Carolina at Pembroke, and University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
This split will also effectively turn off the “IN TRANSIT” business between our libraries’ Circulation Departments. Pull Slips will be generated only for items requested by home library patrons for available home library items.
That means, for instance, that UNCW students, faculty, and staff can no longer request FSU or UNCP items from within the Online Catalog. All requests will now be made through ILLiad (interlibrary loan).

UNC Coastal Library Consortium Borrowers
Up to twenty (20) books may be borrowed during any four-week period. Media items are limited to three (3) items within a four-week period. Cooperative borrowers may return materials to their home institution’s library for return to Chesnutt Library at Fayetteville State University by courier service. The borrowers, however, will still be responsible for the safe and prompt return of these materials to Fayetteville State University. The loan period is not renewable. Those persons for whom Fayetteville State University is their home library are responsible for returning any materials they have borrowed directly to the institution from which it was borrowed.
As a member of the UNC Coastal Library Consortium, FSU students, faculty and staff, may place holds on UNC-Pembroke or UNC-Wilmington circulating materials. These materials usually take from five to seven days to arrive at FSU. They can then be checked out at the Circulation Desk with the FSU University ID Card. Items will be held at the Circulation Desk for five days. If not picked up by then, they will be returned to the institution (UNC-P, UNC-W) that lent them. Holds placed on FSU materials by our institution’s users will be pulled and held for five days at the Circulation Desk. If they are not picked up, they will be returned to the FSU collection.
