We Joined Snapchat and Here’s What We’ve Been Up To (9/4/2015)

A few weeks ago, we hit the 1,000 follower benchmark on Instagram. This is a big deal. Well, it is in the social media community. Chesnutt Library has, essentially, arrived in terms of social media prominence (if there’s even such a thing). This holds true for Twitter, as well.

As such, we decided to flex our muscles and launched our Snapchat account, @chesnuttlibrary.

So, we are getting mighty, mighty close to #1KFollowers on @Instagram. What happens then? Do we throw a party? (8.4.2015)

With Snapcodes posted throughout the Library, allowing for ease of following our stories (you simply scan our ghost; but, you need a Snapchat account!), the response has been tremendous and consistent. The majority of our followers so far have added Chesnutt Library using the Snapcode, as opposed to searching for us by username.

Since we reached #1KFollowers on @instagram last week, it seemed only fitting that we step our game up a bit. You can now find us on #snapchat. Be sure to follow @chesnuttlibrary! (8.10.2015)

And while it is nearly impossible to gather and track analytics, as well as look back at the impact past posts have had on followers (you know, since Snaps only exist for 24 hours), this platform is mighty fun to use.

Snapchat also allows us to shed light on  Chesnutt Library’s personality and the human side of our staff. All signs point to our Snapchat being as successful as our Instagram and Twitter.

Follow our journey!

(P.S. We will soon have our own Chesnutt Library Geofilter. Be on the lookout!)
