Celebrating National Friends of Libraries Week 2017 @ Chesnutt Library

Chesnutt Library proudly observes the week of October 15-21, 2017, as the 12th annual celebration of National Friends of Libraries Week.

The Friends of the Chesnutt W. Chesnutt Library was re-launched in 2015 and have raised over $6000 to support library programming since coming together.

Friends of the Charles W. Chesnutt Library have been active sponsors in a variety of programming efforts, such as noted author series, writing workshops and library banquets.  They have also sponsored programs on trending topics such as “Alternative Facts”.  The Friends most recent program includes the sponsoring of a series of exhibits to celebrate FSU’s Sesquicentennial. As avid supporters of the Chesnutt Library and Fayetteville State University, the group celebrates this milestone with pride by showcasing the history of the university and the library through this classic exhibit.

Julian Stackhouse, President

Friends President, Mr. Julian Stackhouse, notes that the friends are “a group of community members, students, faculty and staff who care about the library and work to support library services.  They are dedicated to promoting the continued growth, programs and cultural activities of the library.”

Other Board of Trustee members are Dr. Sidney Brooks, Dr. Sandra Carr; Ms. Gloria Garner; Mr. Earl Jones,  Mr. Al Kerr; Ms. Suzetta Perkins; Dr. Gregory Rich; Dr. Carole Boston Weatherford; Mrs. Eloise Vowotor and Ms. Linda Whitfield.

Please contact the library director, Mr. Bobby Wynn for more information about joining the Friends of the Charles W. Chesnutt Library.

National Friends of Libraries Week is coordinated by United for Libraries, a division of the American Library Association with approximately 4,000 personal and group members representing hundreds of thousands of library supporters.
