FSU Professor and New York Times best selling author Carole Boston Weatherford and son, Jeffery Weatherford were the featured guests at the REMCO Author Luncheon in Winston Salem, last week during the North Carolina Library Association’s 62nd Biennial Conference.
On Thursday, October 19th, the mother-son duo presented to the Round Table of Ethnic Minority Concerns, a lively poetic exchange from their first collaborative effort, You Can Fly: The Tuskegee Airmen.
An award winning writer, Boston Weatherford welcomed the opportunity to collaborate on the program with Chesnutt Library’s Head of Public Services, Shamella Cromartie, outgoing chair of REMCo, as well as, REMCo’s incoming Chair, Jewel Davis. Professor Weatherford is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Friends of the Charles W. Chesnutt Library.
Notably, “The Weatherfords” was one of the most popular events at the conference, resulting in a dining hall filled to capacity. The audience remained enthralled as the two traded verses from the book, and then answered questions after the performance.
